A Holiday Shopping Guide for the Modern Mystic and Witch, Part 3 (2019)

Since 2017 I have written Holiday Shopping Guides; these generally consist of Witch Owned Shops that I personally support.

I also would like to share a little of the Season’s Magick by possibly gifting these Shops with views, traffic and patronage.

As mentioned in previous Holiday posts, I know many people think Capitalism sucks—it does indeed fucking suck.

But, if we must Shop, or if we want to Shop, we should have access to sustainable, homemade, Witch-Owned, Heart Centered businesses to give our money to; that’s why I create these blogs.

Also, I must start picking the pieces of my life back up and find my groove again.

Here are this year’s Shops:

Anointing Oil of Belial

The first Shop is Uprising Earth on Etsy. I know the Shop Owner personally, and he is simply brilliant. Uprising Earth offers high quality, sustainable Ritual Incense, Oils, and Tools; I own one of everything this Shop has to offer, so I know what I am talking about. I personally love the Belial products, and Belial loves them, too; I have noticed an increase in potency and energy since pairing my Magick with these offerings.

Love Spell

Love Spell Soy Wax Melts

The second Shop is a new small business that was created in June of this year, and is run by my best friend, in fact. Roxy Rose Candle Co. offers high quality, paraben free, Soy candles, and wax melts to suit all your Magickal (and mundane) needs! I am a sucker for wax melts; I also can’t rave enough about her Roxy Rose Candle, and her 7-Day Candles! Be on the lookout too because Roxy Rose will be undergoing a bit of a face-lift as the business expands and narrows in on a market; offering goods not seen anywhere else.

Florida Water

The third Shop is Three Cats and a Broom on Etsy, admittedly I discovered this Shop through Aidan Wachter. Sooo, simply put, Jen and her products are out of this world! Like, seriously. I initially ordered Florida Water at Aidan’s suggestion, and was gifted some of her MAGICKAL Herbal Salve. Have you ever seen ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’? If you have, you know the Father in the story uses Windex to heal *everything*–it’s hysterical. Well, this Salve is my Windex; I literally use it for everything. I have since bought a large jar of the Salve, Prosperity Water, Rue Water and, of course, more Florida Water. The thought, intent and talent that goes into these products are undeniable.

Orgonite Disc for EMF Protection

The fourth Shop is 432Oneness on Etsy. For a long time, I wasn’t drawn to Orgonite; it felt New age-y to me, and I was like “well if you want the crystal’s properties why not just get the crystal?!” But then I was gifted a Chakra Orgonite Pyramid, and holy shit. As someone who is extremely sensitive to energy, of all kinds, I immediately felt it’s power, and I felt a grounded. I’m so sensitive my phone makes me sick if I hold it for longer than 10 minutes at a time, but then I found the Orgonite Discs offered by this Shop, and my phone’s energy is now contained. I have bought 3 discs myself; my Mom has bought 2, and I shared this Shop with a group I run on Fb—just about everyone there went and bought one. They really, really work. Plus, they also some beautiful Orgonite jewelry.

Protection from the Evil Eye Spell Candle

The fifth Shop came to my attention because I was gifted a Spell candle; just having the candle in my room made my entire apartment smell like it, and it wasn’t even lit! In fact, I didn’t light it for a long time because I was so in love! The Shop is Shadow Wick Creations on Etsy. These are real deal, absolutely fucking glorious Ritual candles; they have inscriptions, gemstones, and all kinds of Magick INSIDE OF THEM. I want them all, tbh.

Zambian Elestial Amethyst Lariat Necklace

The sixth and final Shop on my list is Creatrix Craft, another Etsy Shop. This one is actually Owned by a local friend of mine! Be on the lookout because she has some AMAZING Rune and Elestial Amethyst Necklaces to add to her Shop this week, and I have been swooning over them. This Shop offers wreaths, jewelry, and resin wearable art! She is also an otherworldly Artist, and you should for sure check out her IG to get more updates.

As I say every year, it doesn’t matter what you call this Holiday Season, or if you celebrate at all; let this guide be a reference for your Shopping needs all year round, if nothing else.

Blessed Are The Witches.

A Holiday Shopping Guide for the Modern Mystic and Witch, Part Two (2018)

Last year I decided to write a blog spotlighting some Witch friendly, Witch owned businesses for all your Holiday, and year-round needs; it was hugely popular getting over 1k+ shares within the first couple days.

I have decided not only to update that previous blog (ie. updated sites, new products, etc.)—I also decided to write a NEW blog spotlighting even MORE Shops!

So, now you folx have *17 Shops* to choose from that can meet all your Witchy needs!

I have made sure these Shops are friendly on the wallet—I live paycheck to paycheck most months, too.

Personally, giving Witchy gifts is one of my favorite things to do; giving gifts in general is something I enjoy. Hello, Cancerian nurturing nature.

A lot of people think capitalism sucks, and to some degree it does; I know some people who think shopping, or exchanging gifts is equivalent with being a mindless consumer—I don’t see it that way.

I see it as I am not only putting a smile on a loved one’s face, but I am also supporting a small Witch owned business; two birds, one stone.

Supporting small businesses is literally supporting someone’s dream; every time you make a purchase you are saying “fuck you” to every naysayer, and doubter that Shop owner has had to deal with; as a small business owner myself, I can tell you there are naysayers galore.

Whether you are shopping for the Holidays, or you would just like a cool reference guide to some awesome Spiritualist Shops, this is the blog series for you!

Here we go.

Raw Rose Quartz

Edit: Her Shop is quite sparse these days, but I’m sure an update is coming!

The first Shop on my list is The Hoodwitch run by Bri Luna, a Bruja in the spotlight and doing big things for our community. If you follow the Nephilim Rising fb page then you see me share articles from the Hoodwitch blog all the time, but what many of you may not know is that she has quite an amazing metaphysical Shop online! There are items for all tastes and price ranges (usually supporting fellow POC) which is a total win! For the bibliophile in your life (or yourself, I mean…) check out her Bruja Bookshop full of total drool worthy books.

Snake and Purple Labradorite Amulet

The second Shop on my list is Darling Dead AdornmentOne day last year, or even two years ago now, I was scrolling through IG and saw the most amazing rattlesnake fangs preserved in a wax sealed vial; I was not only in love, I was sold, and had to check out this Artist’s other creations. As I scrolled through the images I was blown away at Jacqueline’s dedication to the dead creatures she works with (all ethically/naturally sourced). She honors them forever with her creations. I now own 3 pieces; I should say I own 1 piece and my Spirit’s own 2. #witchlife

Seelie Court by Midnight Anointing Oil

Joey Morris is the Owner of Starry Eyed Supplies, and is the third Shop on my list. Full disclosure: she is a friend and colleague of mine–we write together on The House of Twigs. Regardless of my connection to her, I fully endorse (and use) her products! I am continuously blown away by her ability to make such high quality, potent Witchy goods at amazingly affordable prices. She is based in the UK, and like many of my readers I am based in the U.S–the shipping is super quick, at around 5-7 business days. I obviously support my fellow Authors, so I bought her book, Songs of Shades as well as some realm journeying candles and some spell votive candles. The spell votives are complete spells in a candle! You will find a huge selection of goods for all your Solstice, and gift giving needs.

Night Keeper Enamel Pin

The fourth Shop on my list is another one I found while scrolling IG late at night. I absolutely love pins, and have them on both my jacket and purse (or book bag, depending on what I am using at the time). I actually purchased the pin pictured, and it’s so beautiful! I bought some of their stickers, as well. I have a “Magick Mirror” full of, you guessed it, Magickal Art, sigils, glyphs, etc. These stickers were a perfect addition. This is a great up and coming Shop, and Artist. Support them.

The Hedgewitch Herbal Grimoire

This is actually a two for one. So, the above featured Herbal Grimoire is like at the top of all my “next purchase” lists. It is illustrated by Adrienne Rozzi of Poison Apple PrintshopAnd, it is written by Alison Garber of Native Apothecary I love the goods offered by Poison Apple Printshop because they appeal to the Witchy Artist, and macabre interior designer in all of us. The Wild Goods Native Apothecary offers are the best of what Nature has to offer! They are both amazing Shops, and the above Grimoire is truly a work of Art, and knowledge. Any Witch is lucky to own it.

Death Eater Amulet

The (technically) seventh Shop on my list is Posioner’s Apothecary  Owned by Coby Michael Ward  who is a writer over at Patheos Pagan, as well as a fellow writer on The House of Twigs. I love the Spirit of baneful plants, particularly nightshade. I respect Coby and his knowledge and reverence for the plants and Spirits he works with; I also really appreciate that everything is super affordable with deep meaning.

Witches Sabbath Oil

The eighth Shop on my list is Spiritus Arcanum  owned by Matthew Venus. I love this Shop because of it’s old world authentic vibe; you can feel the Magick just by looking at the pictures. Following Matthew on IG has given his clients a glimpse into the process of creating the Witchy goods that he does, and it’s lovely to watch him birth them into being. Spiritus Arcanum is potent with powerful Magick AND affordable; this is proof that paying a ton does not give you more bang for your buck. This Shop offers a selection of goods perfect for any Witch in your life that loves the Arcane; he also offers services which is a great gift because it doesn’t get anymore personal than a reading. Yeah, a massage is cool and all, but what about gifting a Bone Reading? Or, is it just me?

These Shops are in NO PARTICULAR ORDER and they are all equally amazing and deserving of your patronage.

Please make sure to check out the first annual guide as well! There are so many more good Shops for you to check out.

As I said last year, it doesn’t matter what you call this Holiday Season, or if you celebrate at all; let this guide be a reference for your Shopping needs all year round, if nothing else.

Blessed Are The Witches.

STAND STRONG, WITCH: A Lesson on Being Human

Image: Svetlana Belyaeva

“I never thought about it before, but I’m proud to be human. We’re ever so flawed. We’re frail, confused, violent, and we struggle with so many issues.”

Susan Ee

I believe this blog is more for my readership than it is for me; I had to stop working on my Shop to come and write this, that’s how important I feel this message is and no time can be wasted.

I am not on Facebook for personal reasons much anymore and unless it involves NR, I don’t really want to be bothered. But, I do what everyone else does and scroll through my newsfeed checking up on loved ones, being nosey with others; you know the drill.

I have noticed a common trend among everyone (besides crazy dreams); it seems as though everyone is feeling overwhelmed, anxious and like there isn’t enough time.

Some of this is because of the Holiday season, regardless if you celebrate or not it’s a stressful time of year; Empaths like myself are ripped wide open and there is only so much of the chaos that we can shield. It isn’t just how crazy people get to find the best deals, or how they become mindless mass consumers—it is sometimes truly about the emotions. People are remembering loved ones that are no longer here or that they no longer communicate with, people are remembering a time when they were happy, or maybe this time of year conjures up bad feelings because of trauma in the past.

Whatever the reason, the Holiday season is fucking balls to the wall crazy.

Before I get into what inspired me to write this blog, which has nothing to do with the Holidays, btw, let me tell you about my shit.

When we are overwhelmed it is so easy to slip in to a victim mentality and I think it is important to keep perspective always, and remain grateful. With that said, the last 10 days have dosed out enough CRAZY to make me want to cut this human life short. (No I am not suicidal, and I am not making light of suicide; it’s just an expression.)

It was just one thing after another and it wouldn’t let up. Finally, on Thursday when I was at my Eye Doctor appointment there was an issue with my insurance not showing up in their system—I started crying. I don’t mean I was just a little teary, I am talking full on ugly cry—I couldn’t even speak; I just had to walk outside and breathe. It wasn’t just about the insurance, IT WAS EVERYTHING and it all hit me at once, in front of a whole bunch of strangers and it was….mortifying.

As if that was not bad enough, on Friday night my Laptop shattered. Hello, pre-shadow period of Mercury Retrograde.

Having a piece of equipment break such as a computer is enough to make anyone angry but for me, it was a devastating loss. I run my business online, I am writing my second and third books, I am a Social Media figure; I need a computer. I don’t make a ton of money, and I am by no means rich and I don’t use credit. If it was not for my Mother, I would not be sitting here writing this on my new Laptop. The gratitude I feel cannot be expressed.

Let’s talk about my weekend though, shall we?

To be clear I am not talking about ANY of this for pity, in fact I feel really fucking awkward writing this but I know that for the bigger story, all these little details need to be brought up. I am being as real as I can right now because I think a lot of us are in the pits and could use a word or two of encouragement.

Mom and I went in to my hometown (about 2 hours away) so we could see some family and babysit my niece; yes, they have babysitters there but it is a treat for Mom and me to hang out with my little Fae Princess. We jump at the opportunity when asked.

Now, let me remind you that I have agoraphobia amid all my other diagnosis’. Leaving my house is a production and it literally makes me break out in cold sweats; leaving my cats is weird for me, too even if only for 36 hours. I am the crazy cat lady. Whatever.

After bribing my Sister to come spend the night and be with my beasts (I also have reptiles that need to be tended to) and leaving detailed instructions taped to the cupboard door, I left.

Mom and I had tried this back in September and it ended up with us leaving at 1:30am because we just wanted to be in our beds; we are both Cancers, so we are both homebodies.

About 20 minutes away from our destination Mom’s phone rings, and then she says loudly, “WHAT?!”

I am thinking my Brother has called and told us not to come or something like that but no, it’s my Aunt calling to tell my Mom that we need to go to Grandma’s because the dog needs to be put down.

I love animals—I love animals more than I love humans, acutally. Just being honest. So, this already was making my heart race and my inner Empath freak out. All I could think was, “Fuck, did I bring enough crystals? Where can I buy some Sage? And, I need some Weed.”

We arrive at Gram’s and go upstairs; immediately I check on the dog and he was well on his way, the cancer had taken over. He was not really “with it” but was crying in pain, so I used my Vampyric side and I took on his pain, his fear and eased it all for him; as he silenced, his eyes began to close. (He was euthanized an hour later at the Vet, and passed in loving arms.)

Gram was sobbing, and then my Aunt came home (she had to go pick Gramps up, he was at a meeting).

I hadn’t seen my Grandfather in a long time, and when I did see him last it was for a brief dinner. He has always been a strong presence; fierce, protective, stoic. He is one of the Mason’s I often refer to in my writings.

When I turned around to greet him as he walked up the stairs I saw an old, fragile man. It was jolting to my system; I seem to somehow forget what time does to this mortal coil.

He walked in to the kitchen silent, and as he passed us all he started crying so hard he began dry heaving.

It was at this moment that I looked directly at my cousin and told her we had to go downstairs to her house because it was TOO FUCKING MUCH.

I am lucky to have a family who always accepts my Mom and I, and our Witchy belief’s, despite how crazy they are and how much they fight (I stay out of it). They have even started asking for our help.

Mysticism does run in the family blood…

After all the craziness at Gram’s, I ventured on over to my Brother’s house and was met with even more devastating news about my Father. I don’t feel like going in to details about this but to sum it up, my Father gifted me with false hope a few months ago, and there is nothing more horrific to give to someone than that. I should have learned, I should have known from the years of actions he has shown that his words, just like his promises, are empty.

That’s a lot, right? Just shit, shit, shit and a whole bunch of it.

Add in the insomnia, weird dreams (when I do sleep), anxiety from the collective, the buzz in Washington as this transition to our new President happens (all those ridiculous new Laws being talked about; Google it), the devastating fire in Oakland that took the lives of many weirdos, Artists and queers from our community, Standing Rock, etc. and I realized THERE IS A LOT GOING ON; not just in my life, either.

Oh, did I mention it’s the Holiday freaking season? Yeah.

You are not alone in your feelings, you are not alone in this fight to claw your way back to the top; back to normalcy; whatever that is.

2016 has been no joke, and to start off 2017 in the middle of Mercury Retrograde, well sign me the fuck up! Sarcasm loading…

This morning when I hopped on Fb I saw a post from a friend and it broke my heart. Essentially the post was from the depths of her Soul and for that reason I will remain a bit vague as to respect her privacy. The post discussed her hatred for herself, how she feels she is not good at being a human, and then she apologized for being fake to everyone; she apologized for being a healer to other’s when she herself is broken.

First, who is good at being human? You show me somebody, anybody who is “good” in any context at this human experience and I will list to you a million reasons how they have failed. That’s the point, too: failing, falling and getting back up.

The point is to suck at this, that is how we learn, how we evolve (hopefully), how we grow and ascend.

This journey is not going to be smooth, or easy, nor is there one set path. Again I say, no one is good at being human because this world is literally designed for us to fail.

There is this idea, this really fucking common misconception that to be a healer, to have experience and be considered a teacher or “guru” you must be perfect; that you cannot have faults, that you must love yourself and all your parts unconditionally. And, if you are not these things, and then some, then you are a hypocrite.

I call bullshit on ALL OF IT.

I think that those of us who are still working on self-love, and self-acceptance and who have been to the pits of Hell make the best leaders, gurus and teachers. It’s the ones who are not open about their struggles, who try and mask it with “love and light” that are the fakes; they are the hypocrites.

Not those of us who have stumbled in to this role (like my friend and myself have).

I never intended in a million years to have this role of being a teacher, role model or someone others in the Craft look up to but, here we are; I must accept this fate, this path that I am on.

No, I am not perfect. No, I am not balanced and calm, I am not serene and loving; though parts of me are.

I am dark, rigid, full of emotions and pain; I have wounds on the emotional and Soul level that cut DEEP but NONE of those things diminish my power, they enhance my power: THEY ARE MY POWER.

We are all being thrown around like ragdolls by the excess energy right now; we are all feeling it, we are all experiencing changes and shifts that are out of our control. As mentioned above, there is a lot going on.

You are not alone though, you are never alone, and we will all get through this.

The bruises, scars, lessons, joy and pain will all make us better Practitioners but most importantly, they make us better humans.
